What is the eligibility for IGIDR MSc Economics ?



Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research famously known as IGIDR is situated in Mumbai and offers a two-year Masters programme in Economics which is known as IGIDR MSc Economics. The aim of the course is to imparts students with a rigorous, practical and hands-on knowledge and training in the subject domain of Economics.


Through this course, the institute has special emphasis on analytical and problem solving skills which also support and provide exposure to emerging policy issues at both national and international stage. IGIDR MSc Economics course involves a completing of either 16 courses or 15 courses and a Master’s thesis. The course is for all those who have necessary quantitative prerequisites and would like to understand the economic analysis.

Eligibility for IGIDR MSc Economics


Every course has its own eligibility criteria and IGIDR MSc Economics is no different and have more or less the same eligibility criteria like many other institutes offering Masters in Economics course. The eligibility criteria is as follows:-


Minimum qualification for admission to M.Sc. programme includes one of the following degrees or their equivalents:

  • B.A./B.Sc. in Economics

  • BCom.

  • B.Stat.

  • B.Sc. (Physics or Mathematics)

  • B.Tech.

  • B.E.

With at least 55% aggregate marks for Economics discipline and 60% aggregate marks for other disciplines.


Important Note


  • The aspirants need to have studied Mathematics at the higher secondary or higher level.

  • Reservation Policy as per Government of India Rules. Reserved Category applicants have to produce the necessary documentation as per GOI Rule.
