CUET PG Economics 2027 Syllabus: A Simple Guide for Beginners

Sep 29
5 min read

Quick answer: The CUET PG Economics 2027 syllabus is not out yet. NTA usually shares it around December, before the March exam — so expect it around December 2026. Good news: the topics stay almost the same every year, so you can start now.

First, the honest truth

Let's be clear from the start. The official CUET PG Economics 2027 syllabus is not out yet.

But there is no reason to wait and worry. Here is why:

  • NTA follows a fixed timing. It shares the notice and syllabus around December of the year before the exam.

  • The exam is usually held in March.

  • So the 2027 syllabus should come out around December 2026.

One rule to always remember: when the 2027 notice comes, open the official NTA website and read it yourself. Do not trust any other website for the final dates or rules. Official site: exams.nta.ac.in or pgcuet.samarth.ac.in

Good news — the CUET PG Economics 2027 Syllabus barely changes

Here is the best part. The list of topics has stayed the same for many years.

So if you learn these topics now, you will be ready the day the 2027 notice comes out. You will not lose time. You will already be ahead of others.

What is the CUET PG Economics exam? (in simple words)

Before the topics, understand the exam itself.

  • It is a computer test. You sit at a computer and answer on the screen. This is called CBT (Computer-Based Test).

  • The subject code is COQP10. This code helps you pick the right paper when you fill the form.

  • It is used for admission. Many universities take students into MA / MSc Economics using this exam.

How the paper looked in the last exam (the 2026 cycle). Use this as a guide only. Always check the real numbers in the 2027 notice, because NTA has changed them before.

  • Number of questions: 75

  • Type: all are MCQ — you choose one option out of four.

  • Time: 90 minutes.

  • Total marks: 300.

  • Marking: +4 marks for a right answer, −1 mark for a wrong answer, and 0 for a question you leave blank.

Simple lesson: do not guess wildly. A wrong guess takes marks away. Answer only when you are sure, or close to sure.

How to study before the syllabus comes out

You do not need to wait for the 2027 notice. Start now with a simple four-step plan.

  • Step 1 — Start with theory first. Micro and macro are the base of everything. They also do not change year to year. Build them strong.

  • Step 2 — Build number skills early. Statistics and maths scare many students. So the ones who practice early get a big lead. Do a little every day.

  • Step 3 — Solve old question papers (PYQs). This shows you how NTA really asks questions. The exam tests how you use ideas, not just how you remember them.

  • Step 4 — Lock two things only after the notice. The number of questions and the marking rule have changed before. Take these from the official 2027 notice, not from any other site.

What comes after CUET PG?

CUET PG Economics is the door to MA Economics at top places like the Delhi School of Economics, JNU, and other central universities.

But it is only the first step. The base you build now — micro, macro, statistics, and maths — is the same base you will need later. It carries straight into the big economics exams that come after your master's degree:

  • UGC NET Economics

  • Indian Economic Service (IES)

  • RBI Grade B (DEPR)

  • UPSC Economics Optional

Where ArthaPoint Fits

What we give you:
