What is the exam pattern of GATE Economics 2022?
GATE is a Pan India examination which is administered and conducted in eight zones across the country. The GATE score is used for admissions to Post Graduate Programs like MSc. in case of Economics. PSUs too use the GATE scores for recruiting candidates for various prestigious jobs with attractive remuneration. GATE 2022 will be organised by IIT Kharagpur and the exam will be held in February 2022.

Question Pattern
The latest subjects introduced include :
ES (Environmental Science and Engineering)
XH (Humanities and Social Sciences) in Economics / English / Linguistics / Philosophy / Psychology / Sociology.
Here are few details about the exam/question pattern:
Examination Mode: Computer Based Test (CBT)
Duration: 3 Hours
Sections: General Aptitude (GA) + Candidate’s Selected Subject(s)
Type of Questions: a) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
b) Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) and/or Numerical Answer Type (NAT)
Testing abilities: Recall
Comprehension
Application
Analysis & Synthesis
Number of Questions: 65 Question = 10 (GA) + 55 (subject)
Marks Distribution: General Aptitude: 15 Marks + Subject Questions: 85 Marks = Total: 100
Marking Scheme: All questions carry 1 or 2 mark
Negative Marking: For a wrong answer chosen in a MCQ, there will be negative marking:
For 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.
For 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.
NO negative marking for MSQ & NAT.
